History Randolph Area Family Farms (RAFF) grew out of a community
visioning process which took place in 2001, called Our Town, Your
Town. Numerous comments were made at that gathering, as well as
a follow up gathering in 2002, supporting the cultural and economic
values of agriculture to the community. Vital
Communities invited interested parties to organize
in support of agriculture, and seek ways to help local farms
survive and prosper. Farmers, local nonprofits, community members,
artists, and the Randolph
Area Chamber of Commerce joined together to celebrate
the variety of farms in our immediate area, which range from
dairy to vegetable to llama to berries to fish to sheep, and
more! After the first Family Farm Fest in 2002, the volunteer
steering committee agreed to stay on, as the project sought funding
for a wider range of activities. While we are a stand alone project now, we thank
Vital Communities for their efforts in our formation. Thank you!
